The Khanty — the people of Yugra — called themselves "hul-yokh", fish-people. In several clans the pike was considered a totem ancestor. From its skin they sewed parkas, boots and capes for thousands of years — a literal "second human skin". Fish skin covered the body of the northerner, protected and warmed.

What the Khanty knew as craft, a thousand years later biochemistry confirmed: pike collagen of types I and III, by the structure of its triple helix (~300 kDa), is identical to the collagen in human skin. The body absorbs it not as a foreign protein, but as material for its own skin.

I Prologue

Severra — and the river that gave her name.

SEVERRA™ is a collective image of a woman from the northern rivers of Russia. She has no single face and no single biography: in her there is something of each of the women of Yugra and Yamal who, generation after generation, live by the Ob, the Irtysh, the Konda. Severra is that inner support a northern person carries in themselves — because otherwise on the north you do not survive.

But behind every brand name there is something real. Behind Severra stands a thousand-year history of the Ob-Ugric peoples and one thin biochemical truth.

II Fish-people

Hul-yokh. And the pike as totem ancestor.

The Khanty — the Ob-Ugric people of Yugra — called themselves "hul-yokh". In their language it means fish-people. In certain clans the pike was the totem ancestor: from her they traced their lineage. The clan was called "Sort-yakh" — the people of the pike. The shaman descended to the lower world along the river, turning into a fish.

This is not a metaphor. It is an ancient ontology: fish and human are kin, children of one river. When the first pike was caught in spring, a thanksgiving formula was spoken over it. The fish "offered herself in sacrifice" so that the human might live.

Among the Mansi there is a close formula: "hul hatan yokh" — fish and people breathe the same water.

III Second skin

Fish skin — a biological membrane a thousand years before GORE-TEX.

The Khanty, and the Nanai on the Amur, had a technology that ethnographers study today in museums. From the skin of pike and burbot they sewed parkas, boots, capes. The skin was carefully removed, tanned with fish oil and birch bark, sewn with sinew thread. The result — clothing that was durable, light, water-repellent, breathable. In its properties — a biological analogue of modern membrane fabrics.

This clothing was called a "second human skin". Not figuratively. Literally: fish skin covered the body, protected it from cold and water, kept it warm. It was a culturally worked-out idea: what covers a fish can cover a human.

IV Biochemistry

A thousand years later, science confirmed it.

The collagen molecule in pike skin is a type I–III collagen, its triple-helix structure (~300 kDa) identical to the collagen in human skin. That is why the body absorbs it not as a "foreign protein" but as material for its own skin.

The hydrolysates sold as "collagen" in 95% of cases on shelves are shattered peptides. The body reassembles them, losing structure. Native hydrate is the same molecule the Khanty wore in their parka — only in a vial.

Verifiable facts The marker amino acids of collagen — glycine, proline, hydroxyproline — are present in pike and in human in the same proportions, about 50% of the protein profile. Confirmation of molecular integrity — SDS-PAGE (polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis) on every SEVERRA™ batch.

01.How exactly is "native" different from ordinary collagen?

The collagen sold in shops is a hydrolysate: the molecule is destroyed by heat up to 80 °C and acid. The result is 3–5 kDa peptides — short fragments. Native hydrate is the same molecule, but whole: triple helix at ~300 kDa. The cold-hydrate process preserves its structure. Bioavailability is fundamentally higher.

02.Why pike specifically, not marine fish?

Freshwater pike skin yields type I, II and III collagen in a ratio closest to human skin. Marine collagen has a different amino-acid profile and lower compatibility. Pike from northern rivers also does not carry the heavy-metal problem common in coastal marine fish.

03.When will I feel the result?

Age, rhythm and the degree of "wear and tear" differ for everyone — so collagen works differently for everyone. For one person, fatigue visibly leaves the face after the first course and a sense of vital energy returns; for another the effect is softer — skin becomes fresher, denser, less dull. That's normal: the body itself decides where to direct the recovery resource first, and each person feels their own change in their own body.

04.Is it safe during pregnancy or with chronic conditions?

It's a food supplement. During pregnancy, breastfeeding, with a fish allergy, chronic kidney or liver disease, or while taking blood-clotting medication, you need a prior consultation with a doctor. That's not a ban — that's common sense.

05.Where is the product made?

A full-cycle factory in Russia. We don't publish the partner's name on the site by agreement. The product has been issued a food-supplement certificate (Customs Union TR); the EAEU State Registration Certificate (SGR) is under review. The SEVERRA brand is owned by Aurora LLC.

06.Why "the only one in Russia", not "in the world"?

The "native freshwater-pike collagen hydrate" category is rare worldwide — but we have not carried out an independent audit of the markets in Germany, Japan, Finland, Korea or Canada. Without an audit, claiming "the only one in the world" would be incorrect. For Russia, the position is confirmed.
